J. FREDERICK SMITH

J. FREDERICK SMITH

.   .   .

For the last couple of days (or even weeks) I’ve been engaged in a serious hunt for the delightful, cheery illustrations of J. Frederick Smith (1917 – 2006).

Smith was one of a group of pin-up artist who were drafted by Esquire. Not only did Smith provide pin-up art, but he was also employed doing a series of memorable articles for which he supplied pretty girls and the occasional guy. He also handled more family-oriented fare with Esquire's sister mag, Coronet, usually doing the covers. In the 1960s, the artist switched almost exclusively
to photography. *

DRESSED

Lisa Krannichfeld

.  .

Beautifully melancholic, watercolored ladies from the latest series of work by Lisa Krannichfeld - “Dressed”.

Growing up surrounded by women born of the mindset to serve – not indulge, be humble – not bold, and to suppress – not express, Lisa gives the women in her paintings a voice and an outlet. Breaking traditions further, Lisa often uses traditional Chinese ink and watercolor materials in a uncontrolled, free-flowing way often mixed with unconventional materials.

Christophe Lemaire’s furry slippers are a dream… unfortunately, they are no longer available at MNZ store
and I have no clue if there is another store selling them.

Recently I discovered the work of Aloise Corbaz who had a very interesting life ( man, why do all the artists I like turn out to be schizophrenic?)… You can see more of her beautiful, voluptuous ladies on PupaMag.

Look, let’s be honest, I can never get enough of nice looking, cleverly designed (to the point of being funny) minimalist posters. I wrote about Genis Carreras’ philographics 3 years ago, and I was searching for something similar ever since. Well, I finally found it! Religious concepts by Steve Mockensturm. Read more about them here.

It’s a glorious day for all Wes fans! One Spotify user has compiled a mammoth playlist with almost every track which has appeared in Anderson’s films!

This is the coolest thing I’ve found on the internet in a while. It comes with instructions.

I’ve been loving them since … forever. If you haven’t watched it by now, you should.
