This is a 1958 documentary about 1950s automotive, industrial, interior and architectural design. Film shows contemporary and futuristic designs, many of which now seem dated while others were well ahead of their time. You'll also see the many steps of the design process.

¿WAT?
We are just one C.I.L. away from the big 100… I just figured that out, while typing the post title. Before I start freaking out, let’s see what I’ve collected in the last couple of days…
Stunningly beautiful ceramic tiles from Mutina.
Guys! Seriously! This is the best instagram food I’ve stumbled upon. EVER. It’s a profile of a pastry chef Antonio Bachour. I did him injustice here, because there is no way for me to translate the beauty of his sweet masterpieces in a mere 4 pics, so just click here, and trust me…
Now that I’m mentioning quality food –
El Buli published their book “containing the last seven years of El Bulli through its recipes and evolutionary analysis”.
Confessions of a Guilty Designer: 15 Bold Admissions
I loved this little video by “bearded electronic wizard Todd Terje and two very talented illustrators Espen Friberg and Bendik Kaltenborn”. Actually, now that you’re here, you can just read this interview with all of them (after you finish this c.i.l., not before! Bare with me here.) on It’s Nice That.
Menta, designing studio from Mexico did a first-rate branding and packaging for a Savon Stories and their organic soaps.
I love the whole lookbook for “A Cactus Dream”, spring collection by Mara Hoffman
BTW- did you know that there is a cactus rooftop garden, at the Getty Center, on top of one of their buildings???
I kid you not…
This is such a beautiful piece of a classic architecture… “House Butanta” is actually two twin houses designed by the architect Paulo Mendes da Rocha for himself and his sister. Both were designed and executed between 1964 and 1966.
I really, really want a piece of Jacqueline Klassen’s ceramics.
Oh how much I adore this photo by Paul Rousteau. I’m in love with these hues.. This pic gives me life.
You can see more of his beautiful work here.
Apparently, there’s a restaurant in London with “Press for Champagne Buttons” at Every Table…
I would love to go there on a lazy Tuesday.
Duo from Rodarte designed an amazing carpet collection for The Rug Company. I love these two, marbled, earthly toned ones. Btw, other designers contributed too, and I have to admit, I am super impressed.
I think I have a crush on Paul Newman. He is seriously suave, and I’ve been watching a lot of him lately,
so gimme a break...
3D printed nail animation. Need I say more?
beautiful photo from iamgamar’s instagram
And here we are again… Another week, another C.I.L. Hold tight, this will be a huge one.
Another precious instagram account – Fierce Ham,
dedicated to singular, found letters, via Present and Correct.
Stunningly beautiful ceramic lamps by Jos Devriendt. Love them all, no favorites.
You have to try this recipe for mushroom ragu with creamy polenta by Julia Busuttil Nishimura.
Oh, and pay special attention to these charming plates and bowls made by Jessilla Rogers.
Currently crushing on Sophie Buhai’s jewelry.
Christophe Lemaire’s furry slippers are a dream… unfortunately, they are no longer available at MNZ store
and I have no clue if there is another store selling them.
“Girls running home, Béhorléguy, France, 1967” – adorable photo by William Albert Allard.
Perched on an 2.8-acre exposed Precambrian rock island in Canada’s Georgian Bay, the Molly’s Cabin (by AGATHOM)
is a private seasonal retreat for a multigenerational family.
Also, I was completely delighted with the home of Brook & Lyn, Los Angeles furniture designers.
“Concrete ceramics” by Studio Twocan.
Jacqueline Lillie, Design for a Necklace and final result, 1983/84, via Design is fine. History is mine.
Recently I discovered the work of Aloise Corbaz who had a very interesting life ( man, why do all the artists I like turn out to be schizophrenic?)… You can see more of her beautiful, voluptuous ladies on PupaMag.
Completely random discovery:
left: Jacqueline (Picasso's wife wearing his ceramic jewelry) and right: “Femme au chignon” by Pablo Picasso.
I enjoyed “Now, Voyager” with Bette Davis, and I think you could, too.
Have you seen Oscar’s greenroom?
Look, let’s be honest, I can never get enough of nice looking, cleverly designed (to the point of being funny) minimalist posters. I wrote about Genis Carreras’ philographics 3 years ago, and I was searching for something similar ever since. Well, I finally found it! Religious concepts by Steve Mockensturm. Read more about them here.
It’s a glorious day for all Wes fans! One Spotify user has compiled a mammoth playlist with almost every track which has appeared in Anderson’s films!
This is the coolest thing I’ve found on the internet in a while. It comes with instructions.

I’ve been loving them since … forever. If you haven’t watched it by now, you should.
